The sole reference to this work appears to be the Leonard Joel auction sale in 1992.
This is the third Arkley canvas from 1987 titled ‘Zappo Head’ – see also Zappo Head 1987 [Bendigo] and Zappo Head 1987 [Oxley]. Here, though, the absence of bright colour accentuates the skull-like connotations of the image; see also Zappo Head B/W 1994 [W/P].
