2025 Works
Several major auction sales of Arkley’s work in 2025 raised the bar significantly in terms of market expectations of the value of his suburban canvases: see in particular Neapolitan Delight 1993 [lounge-room]; Contemporary Units 1988; and New Room 1993. All three paintings had been in significant private collections since shortly after their completion.
Exhibitions of his work during the year included a substantial show staged in Sydney by the 1301SW gallery in collaboration with Kalli Rolfe Contemporary Art, and further exhibitions of works from his estate, also mounted by Kalli Rolfe.
For additions and major amendments made to this catalogue during 2025, see New and significantly amended entries (2024-25).
In September, my own new study of Arkley in relation to Surrealism was published in World Art: for details, refer Bibliography.
