Untitled [A142] (c.1974-76) [W/P]

Synthetic polymer paint, ink and pencil on paper, 38.5 x 56.5 (sheet). 25.9 x 36 (image)
Geelong Gallery (acc.no.2016.78)

One of several drawings related to Arkley’s key ‘white’ painting Actuality (Is the Void Between Events) 1976. However, by comparison with most of the work-on-paper versions of this composition (see e.g. Study for Actuality [A93] (1974) [W/P]), this example is horizontal in format, like the¬†1976 canvas, thus accentuating ‘the void between.’

Tape on the back suggests that this drawing may have been mounted and exhibited at some stage.
