Floral Interior (1996) [W/P]

This work was previously listed in this catalogue as an  unidentified composition recorded in Arkley’s 1993-96 stock-book as at Tolarno March 1996, and destined for a ‘Swiss collector.’ New information received from Deutscher and Hackett in April 2025, ahead of a forthcoming auction, identified it as in the Sigg Collection.

On the same scale as several other larger monochrome works on paper dating from 1994-96, this elegant example is closely comparable with Suburban Interior (1995) [W/P], acquired for the University of New South Wales Art Collection in 1996, although some of the details are varied in the present work, shuffling furniture components illustrated in Gold’s Instant Decorator.
