In a quiet year, only two well-credentialed Arkleys appear to have changed hands, both of them auctioned by Deutscher & Hackett: A Freeway Painting (Exit) 1994 (auctioned in Sydney on 20 September), and 50′s 1979 (Melbourne, 29 November).

A brief but incisive analysis of Arkley as a “master of pattern” appeared in  Margaret Plant’s thought-provoking survey of 20th-century Australian art, Love and Lament (see Plant 2017, p.382).
